From a Popcorn Popper to an Obsession
In 2020, like a lot of folks, we began experimenting with projects at home in Bryan, TX. We grew mushrooms in a closet, learned how to make bagels, and started roasting coffee beans with a modified popcorn popper. A lifelong gearhead, Hugh kept fine-tuning his process — taking apart motors, talking to experts, and drinking enough coffee to power his 1976 Plymouth Volaré.
After years of camping in the Southwest and exploring smaller communities, we kept coming back to Trinidad, CO. Our dream was to settle somewhere a little off the radar, quirky and special — and now we're proud to call it home. Here, we're sharing sustainably sourced, carefully roasted small-batch coffee with our neighbors, along with a dose of visceral, surreal art that won't be for everyone.
Neither is Trinidad — and that's what we love about it.

Craft, Creativity, and Curmudgeonly Exactitude
Coffee roasting is both craft and creativity — part science, part intuition — and no two roasters approach it the same way. We honor the hard work of coffee farmers by roasting each batch with exacting care, bringing out unique flavors you won't find on the grocery store shelf.
Burundi Kayanza
A single-origin green bean roasted to bring out its natural brightness — available in your choice of light or medium roast.
Organic Colombian Sierra
A well-rounded organic single origin, roasted medium or dark depending on your mood that morning.
Decaf Colombian Valle
All the flavor, none of the jitters. A decaf blend for the curmudgeon who still needs to sleep eventually.
Our mission is to fuel the community with exceptionally fresh coffee that even a curmudgeon would love. We currently source single-origin green coffee beans from Genuine Origin and Burman Coffee. We like to experiment, too — come by the market in Trinidad and try a sample.
